Dr Akuhata Bailey-Winiata (Tūhourangi, Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Tūtetawha) is a climate adaptation scientist whose work spans research, practice and policy. He has partnered with hapū and iwi Māori, councils, Crown agencies, and research organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand to better understand climate and natural hazard risks and co-develop adaptation responses. His PhD developed a Māori climate adaptation framework that supports the resilience and long-term aspirations of hapū and iwi in a changing climate.
