Dr Shari Gallop (Ngāti Maru ki Hauraki, Te Rarawa) is a Senior Associate – Climate Resilience at Beca with over 15 years’ experience spanning academia, research, and applied climate adaptation. She specialises in hapū/iwi-led adaptation and planning, working across local to national scales to translate complex climate risk into clear, actionable insights that support informed decision-making. Shari holds a PhD in coastal processes and has an established international research background, with expertise in coastal hazards, climate impacts, and the integration of mātauranga Māori and western science. She maintains strong links between research and practice through national programmes and applied projects. She has extensive experience partnering with hapū, marae, papakāinga, and councils to co-develop locally grounded adaptation responses, with a focus on Māori data sovereignty and culturally appropriate engagement. Complementing her technical expertise, she is highly experienced in community engagement and capacity building, including wānanga and workshops with tamariki and rangatahi, and developing inclusive approaches that reflect multiple worldviews.
